Carp season is slowly taking off. In some places in Poland it already caught some decent pace, while in other parts of the country, e.g. in northern-east, where reservoirs still get covered with ice overnight, preparations are still in progress. It is only a matter of time until the moment when the season fully starts and carp lovers disappear, hidden in their favourite spots for good.
So far, as it is still a warm-up period, it is a great idea to take a closer look on the equipment and make sure that all the missing parts are replenished. While making such a check, I pay especially lot of attention to a number and quality of hooks that I have. They play a major role in carp angler toolbox, despite often being trivialized. I think that it is important to spend some time over that part of gear as it is responsible for the reliability of our carp rigs. In this case, I have a lot of trust in Mikado Territory hooks. I will tell you more about them in order to explain why I decided to rely on them this season.
Mikado Territory hooks stand out with their great finish of an eye, perfect shape and width of a shank, and are available in variety of lengths. Another great feature of that product is its unbelievably sharp point, that pierces with ease even through the hardest moth of a fish. Unparalleled built quality of those hooks, that makes them durable and reliable, leaves us calm about the outcome of the fishing trip.
Hooks with long and straight shanks, such as Grabber, Wide Gape or Choody, work perfectly with floating lures in variety of D-rigs and snowman rigs made of two balls – a floating and a sinking one. Very sharp and strong, providing a safe haul. I used them multiple times and they never failed me.
Long Shank hooks are known for their great grip and flexibility of a shank, what makes them great and safe to use while keeping the prey unharmed during power hauling. That last feature is really important to me so the Long Shank series has permanent spot in my toolbox.
Reliable, typical carp hook Territory Musa, with a perfectly bent gape, is a very versatile tool for carp fishing. Its high quality and unparalleled sharpness make it capable to cope with any, even the most extreme and harsh conditions. Musa hooks never failed me, even in moments when it seemed that fate of a haul is already doomed.
All Territory series hooks are made of a wire thick enough to absorb fish attempts to run away, while keeping a great grip and ease to pierce a mouth of a fish. Chemically sharpened point lets us forget about dull hooks. Speaking of their barb – it has been perfectly shaped to be big enough to keep the fish steady, not being too large at the same time.
Territory hooks can easily be used at the most demanding fisheries. Insanely sharp, made of Japanese steel that won’t fail even during the hardest haul. Available in variety of sizes and models so that we can make virtually any type of a rig. Coated with a smooth Teflon, tested in different conditions and at variable fisheries. Each hook is packed separately what guarantees its sharpness and readiness to use right after unpacking.
I think that Territory hooks are a great choice for carp fishing trips and this year they will prove themselves again.
